Discover Historic Annapolis
Founded in 1649, Historic Annapolis is one of America’s oldest cities and is designated a National Historic Landmark District. Its beautifully preserved colonial architecture, waterfront, maritime heritage, and enduring ties to the founding of our nation make it one of America’s most treasured historic destinations.
Federal House Bar & Grille is located in the heart of Historic Annapolis, steps from many of the city’s most celebrated landmarks.
Before or after your dining experience, we encourage you to explore:
– Historic City Dock and the Annapolis waterfront
– Maryland State House (visitor hours permitting)
– Annapolis Visitor Center
– Boutique shopping and art galleries
– Charming cafés and colonial streets
– St. John’s College, one of the nation’s oldest institutions of higher education
– The grounds surrounding the United States Naval Academy (visitor access is subject to current security procedures)
As you explore the waterfront, consider visiting the Kunta Kinte–Alex Haley Memorial at City Dock—the only memorial in the United States commemorating the named arrival of an enslaved African in America. The memorial honors Kunta Kinte and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alex Haley, author of Roots, and serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving history, family heritage, resilience, and the enduring power of storytelling.
Make a day of your visit and enjoy the history, architecture, waterfront, and charm that have made Annapolis one of America’s most treasured destinations.
